Regional Director of Physical Plant
Athena Health Care Systems is hiring a Regional Director of Physical Plant to support the operations of our Massachusetts and Rhode Island skilled nursing facilities! Athena manages 20 facilities throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and the candidate must be willing to travel between locations frequently (full list of towns below). This is a salaried role with weekly pay. The Regional Director of Physical Plant is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of our facilities as directed by the Corporate Dir. of Plant Operations. Education & Experience: + Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent. + A minimum of three to five years of experience in a maintenance supervisory capacity in an acute or long-term care environment. + Training in the operation of maintenance equipment. + Knowledgeable of boilers, HVC, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. + Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints and be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations. Duties & Responsibilities: + Provide on-site and remote support to managed facilities physical plant teams and operations. + Review facilities life safety documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. + May assist with facility projects including, but not limited to, equipment installation, new construction, and repairs, as deemed necessary. + Work closely with approved vendors in regard to facility projects, repairs, and payables, and relay information to Corporate Director of Plant Operations and Systems Facility Manager. + Oversee the maintenance and care of supplies and equipment. + Participate in mock surveys. + Serves on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours. + Provide training to physical plant team, including the onboarding of new Physical Plant Directors and Maintenance Assistants, as well evaluating work performance and relay performance information to management. + Assist with on-site physical plant operations if position vacancy. + Must be able to work closely with governing bodies, including but not limited to, local fire departments, OSHA, DPH, and DEP. + Recognize interior and exterior hazards and environmental safety concerns to residents and staff, and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment according to facility policy and procedures. + Ensure resident areas and non-resident areas are neat, clean, and free from odor. + Organize and prioritize projects in maintenance department. + Replace, repair. and purchase items according to facility policy and procedure. + Maintain weather protection against cold, heat, fire, and other hazards. + Implement preventive maintenance program and document accurately. Specific Requirements: + Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. + Must have knowledge in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc. + Must have NFPA knowledge and understanding of code. + Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. + Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public. + Must be knowledgeable of Physical Plant practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing these functions in a skilled nursing facility. + Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel. + Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of maintenance department. + Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, and be able to manage residents’ emotional conditions. + Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition and report incidents. + Represents department at pertinent facility meetings and in various capacities. + Possess sufficient mechanical understanding to manage maintenance needs with little to no help from outside organizations/vendors. The locations of the facilities are RI: Providence, Newport, Woonsocket, East Providence. MA: Sandisfield, Centerville, Sandwich, Plymouth, Haverhill, Lowell, Marlborough, Worcester, Webster, Southbridge, North Easton, Wareham, Rockland. Mileage is reimbursed.
