Job Responsibilities:

Mission of the Position:

Reporting to the Regional Commodity Manager (“RCM”), the Regional Commodity Buyer role is to support the development and implementation of global commodity strategies that satisfy the needs of the business (landed cost, footprint, quality, technology, risk, sustainability, etc.).

Under direction of the RCM, responsibilities may include executing market tests, constructing supplier comparisons and business cases, and various other tasks to support the RCM’s management of assigned suppliers; including full responsibility for cost, contract performance, risk management and long-term value creation across the end-to-end supplier lifecycle including service).

The ideal candidate will possess purchasing experience in the automotive industry, strong analytical skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the RCM in the development, alignment and implementation of global commodity strategies to achieve business targets related to savings, technology, footprint, quality, economics, sustainability, supply base reduction / consolidation, etc.  Strategies should include data from trade fairs, macroeconomic and geopolitical influences, supplier landscape of opportunities and risks.In compliance with the commodity strategy and in alignment with Program Purchasing Teams support the RCM in the negotiation all new regional business awards.  Tactics to include program bundling, global sourcing & leverage, dual sourcing, tariff & USMCA duty mitigation, specification / tolerance / material changes, process optimization, VAVE, Lean, logistics & packaging optimization, payment term improvement.Support the RCM to achieve regional budgeted savings targets on all existing business.  Using the same tactics as above, develop and monitor the execution of divisional cost savings initiatives & risk mitigation strategies.Support the RCM in actively managing the supplier relationship, including all regional commercial topics for the entire life cycle (award, change control, all claims, performance, service, etc.).  Adhere to disciplined contract management (NDA, Terms & Conditions, Nominations Letters, Settlement Agreements, etc.).Support the RCM in the qualification & development of new suppliers as necessary.Support the RCM in working with regional cross functional teams including Building Block, Program / Launch Management, Engineering, Production Control & Logistics, Constraints Management, Supplier Quality & Production Quality departments, and Magna International Purchasing counterparts according to the Purchasing RASIC.Keep the RCM informed of all issues through clear and concise communications.Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline3+ years' progressive experience in Purchasing field preferably in an automotive / manufacturing environment.  1+ year direct experience with the Assigned CommodityCommodities including, but not limited to, Forgings and/or MechatronicsMust be familiar with QS9000, TS16949, and ISO14001 procedures.Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time
