Trinity Health New York (THNY) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Oncology service line administrator to lead and drive system collaboration on growth, program development, regional capital planning, and partnerships across St. Joseph’s Health and St. Peter’s Health Partners. The Administrative Director will bolster and guide the framework of a new, statewide Oncology service line model and serve as a key partner and collaborator with Roswell Park Care Network, of which St. Joseph’s Health and St. Peter’s Health Partners are affiliated. This position will focus on statewide integration of THNY’s regional Oncology service line to drive financial, operational and strategic priorities.
The Administrative Director is not responsible for day-to-day care delivery or operations; however, the Director will work closely with clinical teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure implementation of an integrated, standardized, and member-centered Oncology service.
The Administrative Director will partner with dyad-appointed physician leaders from the St Joseph’s/Syracuse and St. Peter’s/Albany markets and support facilitation of a statewide oncology advisory council.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning:
In collaboration with the THNY executive leadership team and assigned strategy partner, oversee the development and service integration of a statewide oncology service line model.Develop near- and long-term program expansion plans focused on growth, investment, and service line optimization across THNY markets, ensuring Oncology development and profitability planning is in line with THNY’s strategic and financial priorities.In collaboration with financial, medical group, and acute care leadership, support the capital planning process for future Oncology investments and lead pro forma and business plan development from concept through approval phases.Serve as THNY’s expert on national and local oncologic market trends, competitor activities and emerging technologies. Utilize market share analytic software to evaluate outcomes and inform recommendations to leadership on programmatic investment areas.In collaboration with the provider engagement/network development team, support efforts to expand and strengthen referral networks to ensure a robust flow of patients to the regional service line. Cultivate strong, communicative relationships with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and patients to expand service line visibility and foster referrals.Monitor referral and care coordination outcomes to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. In collaboration with the medical group, acute care, and provider engagement leaders, develop and implement strategies to minimize out-of-network referrals.Lead and collaborate on efforts to strengthen patient and provider access across THNY oncology services.Financial Management:
Manage a regional service line dashboard, including oversight of identified metrics and related action plans to achieve service line and organization priorities.Manage the financial performance of the regional Oncology service line, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation. In collaboration with finance and operational leads, the Director is responsible for leading financial planning and performance measurement, including, but not limited to productivity measures, capital planning, financial stewardship, budget planning, growth initiatives and cost containment actions. Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to meet financial targets, improve profitability, and deliver high-quality care in a cost-effective manner.Facilitate the identification of opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize resource utilization while maintaining excellence in patient care.Clinical Collaboration & Quality Improvement:
Foster collaborative relationships among physicians, clinical staff, and executive leadership to ensure highly reliable, patient-centered care.In alignment with local physician dyad partners and quality leaders, support the advancement of quality and safety initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation, and best practices, including medical oncology affiliation criteria required by Roswell Park Care Network.Staff Development & Leadership:
Participate in the recruitment of a high-performing team of Oncology specialists, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.Support operational leaders in the professional growth and development of staff, ensuring they remain current with advancements in Oncology care and clinical best practices.Compliance & Risk Management:
Support operational leaders in ensuring services comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Trinity Health New York’s policies and accreditation standards.Support risk management initiatives to mitigate potential liabilities and safeguards patient safety across the regional Oncology service line.Qualifications:
Education:Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, or a related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.Clinical background (RN, MD, or other healthcare-related degree) is preferred.Experience:At least 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare management and service development, particularly within Oncology services or a related clinical specialty.Proven success in managing complex healthcare operations, multidisciplinary teams, and service line growth.Skills & Competencies:Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, establish and maintain relationships and constructive interactions with individuals and groups.Extensive knowledge of Oncology clinical practices, patient care protocols, and healthcare regulations.Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and healthcare data analytics.Knowledge of the healthcare environment, including clinical practice knowledge, delivery models and work design, health care economics, policy and governance. Understands the healthcare system and the environment in which healthcare managers and providers function.Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate clearly and concisely with executives, physicians, and staff across all levels.Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to various Trinity Health New York facilities within the region (Albany/Syracuse). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.Pay Range: $66.75-$100.15
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
