Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to oversee and lead all aspects of day-to-day production for an assigned shift at the Decatur, IL Corn Plant Refinery. The Shift Supervisor will provide leadership to operators, contractors, and maintenance personnel, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable refinery operations.
This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with all safety procedures, monitoring and controlling process KPIs, and effectively communicating maintenance needs. The Shift Supervisor will report directly to the Refinery Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions: Maintain a strong focus on personnel safety, product quality, and overall process safety.Lead refinery operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.Manage production processes to consistently achieve in-spec final product quality.Assess and plan personnel requirements to meet operational needs.Assign work, set clear expectations, and monitor progress toward completion.Provide ongoing training, coaching, and development opportunities for team members.Interpret and apply organizational policies consistently across all operations.Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience (preferred)5–8 years of experience in a related role, with at least 3 years in a direct supervisory capacity (preferred).Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively set priorities and manage multiple tasks.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordination, training, and reporting.Working Conditions: DustChemicals / IrritantsThe scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not accurately followedInside areas:Spring / Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility will be up to or exceed 100 degreesFall / Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezingSome manufacturing processes within the facility are highly reliant on machinery and other processing equipment and, as a result, noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift Outside areas:Spring / Summer: Outside temperature may be up to or exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity; may be exposed to inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain and windFall / Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below; may be exposed to inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and windPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to thirty (30) pounds on a frequent basis, up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basisLifting or carrying of weights over fifty (50) pounds is rare; employees are encouraged to request assistance with objects that weigh more than fifty (50) poundsAbility to traverse up to five (5) miles dailyAbility to move about or to a work site by stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently during the course of a work day; may require periods of prolonged sitting or standingAbility to operate equipment or diagnose/detect issues of machinery located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding, or other work at heightsFull range of physical motion is required in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heightsExcited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
