Refinery Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on, well-rounded **Refinery Engineer** to join our seasoned team in **Wichita, KS** . This role requires providing technical leadership for engineering projects while coordinating with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to implement engineering and process improvements. You'll manage small capital projects and provide technical services for the development of process instructions. The position supports our continuous improvement program for existing processes and involves directing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of the maintenance department, subcontractors, and facility personnel assigned to various projects. Expect to spend 70% of your time in the plant and 30% in the office.

+ Assists Refinery GM in developing capital projects list for the facility and helps develop budget costs for such projects.
+ Provides engineering support for the design and development of capital projects and assists in obtaining necessary permits.
+ Coordinates the project activities at the plant level with all involved departments such as operation, Shipping and Receiving, management, maintenance, compliance and Health and Safety.
+ As a part of the project management, ensures equipment & services procurement and compliance with all predetermined applicable regulations and company policies.
+ Provides engineering support to plant maintenance department on an as needed basis and coordinates planning of scheduled outage of major systems.
+ Coordinates with operations and maintenance to implement engineering and process improvements to gain efficiency.
+ Coordinate with internal and external technical groups to identify and implement best practices.
+ Provide technical services for the development of process instructions.
+ May design/redesign mechanical devices, develop prototypes and produce technical documents when necessary.
+ May conduct analysis of process data to define effect and variation of identified parameters from test results.
+ Support continuous improvement programs to existing processes.
**What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen?**
+ Bachelor Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum and/or Industrial Engineering
+ 2-4 years’ experience in a plant, industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
+ Waste Industry or Refinery experience is an asset!
+ 1+ years of Capital Project Management experience a plus!
+ General knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines including Process Engineering
+ Ability to understand all equipment used at the site, to include but not limited to instrumentation, piping, valves, pumps, material of construction, coating systems, fire detection and controls, material handling and building/structure maintenance.
+ Mechanically inclined
+ Able influence and communicate with all levels of the organization
+ Familiar with P&IDs and blueprints
+ MS Project experience a plus!
+ Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, climb, stoop, work at heights, bend, stand for long periods and work in all weather conditions
+ Availability to be on call
