Recreational Therapist - Pediatrics

As a Recreational Therapist, you will assist patients with developing and enhancing social, cognitive, physical and emotional skills. Your efforts will focus on implementing treatment plans that best serve and meet the needs of patients of all ages, health backgrounds and differences. Your ability to provide compassionate, person-centered support can leave a lasting positive impact on your community every day. **A caregiver in this position works days and evenings from 8:00am-4:30pm.** **There is also a Saturday rotation** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Plan, conduct, direct and coordinate therapeutic programming and activities in group and individual settings. + Train other caregivers in provision of therapeutic programming and activities. + Complete assessments for functional and rehabilitative needs, such as activities of daily living, community living skills and social, leisure and vocational skills. + Educate patients, family and other caregivers in skills and resources applicable for discharge plan. + Effectively and efficiently plan and utilize programming budget, including care and equipment maintenance. + Research, explore and implement innovative and evidence-based therapies that may benefit patients in the clinical setting. + Coordinate and supervise volunteers, students and interns. + Participate in hospital and enterprise safety programs, identifying risks to patient safety and reducing healthcare errors. + Provide relevant in-service training sessions for caregivers. + Create treatment plans and programing that meet patient needs and interests. + Educate patients in social skills needed to become or remain independent. + Plan and implement therapeutic group programming. + Record and analyze patient progress. + Evaluate interventions for effectiveness. + Develop and create new applications, ideas, systems or products. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Recreational Therapy + Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation + BLS Healthcare Provider within 90 days of hire + WELLE Training within 90 days of hire + Knowledgeable of emergency and disaster procedures + Experience in a healthcare and/or behavioral health setting + Experience with pediatric medical population both inpatient and outpatien + Knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit-setting and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries with patients Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Master's Degree Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
