AGS is looking for a Recreation Specialist to work in El Paso, TX. The Recreation Specialist is responsible for the development and oversight of the recreation program. Every facility with a rated capacity of 350 or more ICE detained non-citizens shall employ a fulltime recreation specialist with special training in implementing and overseeing a recreation program. The Recreation Specialist shall assess the needs and interests of the detained non-citizens. The Recreation Specialist shall also support the Chaplain with the implementation and management of the Religious Program.
The Recreation Specialist (RS) reports to the Program Manager, uses sound judgment to prioritize and complete assignments, and acts independently to plan, organize, and direct comprehensive voluntary recreation programs for detainees housed at the facility. The position studies and analyzes recreational needs and resources and plans programs and activities of interest to the population and that will ensure accomplishment of the expected outcomes of ensuring each detainee has access to recreational and exercise programs and activities, within the constraints of safety, security, and good order. The RS will make concerted efforts to ensure recreational activities are planned to include opportunities for detainees with disabilities to participate.

Coordinate recreational activities to include: TournamentsWeekend Movie ProgramOther activities as directed by AGS and/or ICE ManagementFacilitation of art and music classes on a weekly basisOther activities as necessaryOrder Supplies for the following areas/ departments.BarbershopLeisure and Law LibraryReplenish / update DVD movie catalogRecreational equipment (basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, cards, board games, etc.)Detainee welfare supplies, to include televisions, remote controls, pens, pencils, batteries, educational materials, etc.Other items as necessaryCoordinate and/or overseeKnow your rights presentationGuest speakers/classroom activities for: Stress / Anger management, Wellness, Parenting, Living after Incarceration, Alcoholics Anonymous, and othersPrepare and post monthly recreational schedules Organization and maintenance of leisure reading materials Supply Quarantine units with Law Library services/ materials Notary services Scheduling of Legal phone calls between detainee and attorney Management of detainee requests from the tablets Liaison for IT issues with Library computers/ account accessUpdating of USCIS, EOIR, etc. forms Other duties as needed
Qualifications
US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five yearsPossess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record)Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearancePass all pre-employment and random drug testsPass a medical examination and meet health requirementsAt least 21 years of agePossess a valid state driver's licenseKnowledge of day-to-day operation of a detention services center
Education/Experience:
BS degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Recreation Management, or related field. The BS may be substituted with equivalent education and experienceMinimum three years’ experience as a Recreation Specialist or related positionFirst Aid, CPR and AED certifiedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
