RECEPTIONIST CANCER CENTER

Job Summary/Overall Objectives

 

Receptionist position for oncology practice. Responsibilities include but not limited to greeting and registering patients as they arrive to the office, answering phones, assisting patients with questions and/or needs and delegating to appropriate staff members as needed. Communicating effectively with other team members to provide the best experience for patients.

Essential Job Functions

 

Keep the front desk/reception area highly organized and functioning as efficiently as possible. Secure information relative to patients’ financial status or insurance coverage. May complete insurance forms, verify insurance coverage, and secure other information if needed. Utilizing Expanse/Phreesia, answer telephone, arrange & confirm patient appointments, and give routine information in accordance with practice procedure. Duplicate documents and forms as directed and mail or fax to outside individuals and agencies. Function Assist with telephone referrals/approvals for HMO patients, outpatient test scheduling and prescription phoning. Completing appropriate forms within Expanse/Phreesia. Type a variety of materials: e.g., letters, reports, memos, forms, etc. Perform secretarial functions as circumstances demand. Maintain, retrieve and file patient records within the Medent EMR System. File all correspondence, reports, etc. in patient electronic medical records in designated order after physician has reviewed and initialed. When required receive and record patient payments. Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the medical office is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Other duties as assigned.

 

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education. Typing skills Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice. Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Experience in Healthcare setting.

 

License, Certification & Clearances

Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system Current CPR certification

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.). Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
