Job Description
The receptionist ensures the efficient day-to-day operation of an apartment complex by providing excellent customer service, supporting leasing activities, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with company standards. This role combines front desk responsibilities, basic property management support, and light maintenance tasks to create a welcoming and well-organized environment for residents and prospective tenants.
Responsibilities
Promote apartment rentals by professionally handling telephone and in-person inquiries and providing clear, accurate information to prospective and current residents.Effectively use the computer system to log all transactions, tenant data, and correspondence, ensuring records remain accurate and up to date.Collect funds and post payments received by phone and in person, following established procedures for handling and recording payments.Complete daily walk-through inspections of the property, checking locks and cleaning units as needed to maintain a safe and presentable environment.Conduct limited retail sales and follow proper cash management procedures for all transactions.Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive experience for residents and visitors.Open and close the office each day, following established security and operational procedures.Contact tenants regarding matters such as past due accounts, auction notifications, and concerns with units, and document all communications appropriately.Monitor the physical condition of the facility and promptly report maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate parties.Keep the office and restroom areas clean, organized, and well-stocked to maintain a professional appearance.Maintain exterior areas and grounds so they remain attractive and free of debris, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests.Consistently apply company policies and procedures in daily activities and interactions.Work confidently with minimal direct supervision while maintaining a high standard of performance and accountability.Essential Skills
Proven customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public and provide a positive experience for residents and visitors.Front desk experience or similar administrative support background, including answering phones and greeting guests.Data entry skills with attention to detail for accurately logging tenant information and transactions.Ability to effectively use computer software programs, including basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Capability to learn and consistently apply company policies, procedures, and operational standards.Confidence and reliability to work with minimal direct supervision while managing daily responsibilities.Ability to perform light maintenance and clean-up tasks as part of daily duties.Professional presentation and appearance suitable for a front-facing reception role.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in property management or working in an apartment complex or similar residential environment.Familiarity with tenant management or property management software systems.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as payment processing, record keeping, and customer inquiries.Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with tenants, prospective residents, and colleagues.Basic cash handling experience and understanding of proper cash management procedures.Work Environment
The role is based at an apartment complex in Gardena and involves working primarily in an on-site office environment with regular interaction with residents, prospective tenants, and visitors. The receptionist opens and closes the office daily and spends part of the time performing walk-through inspections of the property, including common areas and individual units. Light maintenance and clean-up tasks are part of the routine, both inside the office and in exterior areas, to ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and free of debris. The position requires professional presentation and appearance, as it is a front-facing role representing the property to the public.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gardena, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
