Responsibilities
Comply with Barrick’s established health and safety policies, procedures, practices and Occupational Health and Safety Acts.
Visibly practice safety leadership through leading by example.
Actively ensure a safe environment for yourself, your peers and local communities through regular communication and due diligence.
Promptly report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
Actively ensure that fatal risks are understood and critical controls are maintained.
Perform inspections in accordance with mine standards and OEM specifications.
Report all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues via an incident report.
Perform task risk assessments (JHA, FLRA).
Maintaining and repairing mechanical issues, performing diagnostics and fault finding, and conducting routine inspections on a variety of underground machines.
Coordinating activities within the section and reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
Ensure that mobile equipment is maintained in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules based on daily, weekly, and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance team.
End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan.
Ensure maintenance costs are maintained at or below the assigned budget.
Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment.
Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to mining activities.
Qualification Requirements
A relevant Mechanical Trade Certificate from a recognized institution.Experience and Skills Requirements
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment.
Deep knowledge of Sandvik equipment (TH663i, LH621i, DD421, DL432i, DL421, DU411, Getman, Maclean, Normet, Cat, Volvo etc.)
Must be competent in working at heights and usage of lifting equipment.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
Strong safety background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
