Real Estate - Senior Accountant

The company specializes in transforming complex sites into integrated spaces that support living, working, and commerce. In addition to overseeing large-scale planning efforts, it frequently leads the construction of commercial and retail facilities within these projects. Role: The Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support financial operations across multiple entities and development projects. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly reports, managing daily transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and capable of navigating complex transactions related to real estate and development. Key Responsibilities: + Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned entities and projects, including budget variance analysis, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. + Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including accruals, to ensure completeness and accuracy at period-end. + Apply and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure reporting integrity. + Manage and reconcile general ledgers for assigned entities and development projects. + Handle accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and gain recognition using Federal Income Tax basis and percentage of completion methodology, with proper documentation. + Review project costing and coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and supported accruals. + Assist in the accounting aspects of property sales, including reviewing contracts, preparing/reviewing closing statements, and gain/loss calculations. + Work with the Controller to determine job cost close-out timing and manage the transition to asset capitalization or expense recognition. + Maintain and track real estate tax schedules and ensure timely payments. + Prepare budgets and forecasts; compile and analyze data and input into the Yardi system. + Update forecasts quarterly and assist with cash flow planning and projections. + Oversee cash activity, including deposits, transfers, and reporting as needed. + Provide schedules and documentation to support audits and tax filings. + Participate in internal peer reviews and cross-functional collaboration to enhance consistency and share best practices. + Support special projects and ad hoc assignments, including: + Monthly reporting on job-related cash expenditures. + Preparing monthly draw packages for construction loans or other financing arrangements. Requirements Qualifications: + Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience + Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls + Experience in real estate accounting, with exposure to development and percentage of completion methodology preferred + Familiarity with Yardi Voyager is highly desirable + Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field Abilities: + Solid knowledge of accounting principles applicable to real estate + Ability to manage multiple projects and perform well under pressure + Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of clear correspondence and effective communication at all organizational levels + High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and thoroughness + Self-motivated and well-organized, able to work independently + Strong customer service mindset for both internal and external stakeholders + Adaptable and eager to learn, open to feedback, and positive about change + Skilled at reviewing source documents and tracing transactions through contracts and records Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
