This role can be based in either our Claysburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA office.
OVERVIEW
Provide paralegal support to real estate legal counsel, including assisting with real estate closings and financings, and drafting legal documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
1. Assist on real estate finance transactions; collaborate with finance team, real estate counsel, lender, and title company; prepare required documentation for attorney review; collect appraisal data and communicate with appraiser; coordinate finance closings; obtain and transmit certificates of insurance.
2. Assist on real estate closings; collaborate with real estate counsel and title company; prepare closing agendas, deeds, settlement statements, corporate good standing certificates and resolutions, affidavits, closing binders and other related closing documentation for attorney review.
3. Prepare preliminary drafts of a variety of real estate legal documents including: leases; lease extensions; lease amendments; subleases; memorandums of lease, estoppels, SNDAs, and lease assignments
4. Obtain and conduct preliminary review of title reports and prepare title objection letters where appropriate.
5. Coordinate with real estate counsel, directors and internal teams to obtain required signatures on necessary real estate documents.
6. Assist real estate counsel with basic legal analysis when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)
The education, experience and license/certification requirements represent the MINIMUM requirements necessary to perform the functions of this position successfully.
Education
• High School diploma required
• Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor’s degree in legal studies preferred
Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as real estate paralegal required
Licenses/Certifications
• Paralegal Certificate required
• Pennsylvania Notary Commission preferred
