We’re hiring a Real Estate Counsel for our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. The Real Estate Counsel should be an experienced, business-focused attorney to join our team. As part of EquipmentShare’s Legal Department, you will work closely with EquipmentShare’s attorneys and partner with the Real Estate, Construction, and other departments to further the Company’s expansion real estate initiatives.
Salary range: $170k-$225. Factors including past experience and location may affect final compensation rate.
Primary Responsibilities
+ Lead negotiation and drafting of EquipmentShare’s real estate agreements, including all documents necessary for purchases, sales, leases, sale-leasebacks, and acquisitions.
+ Provide creative and practical legal advice on real estate transaction structuring.
+ Assist with due diligence curative efforts for land use (including zoning, title, survey, and environmental review).
+ Work closely with executive leadership and colleagues across EquipmentShare’s real estate, finance, accounting, and construction departments to quickly and efficiently open new locations.
+ Interact directly with outside counsel, opposing counsel, landlords, title and escrow agents, and other stakeholders.
+ Understand, manage, and improve EquipmentShare’s legal procedures and forms to improve speed to market.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suites and strong technical aptitude to learn proprietary systems.
+ Experience with environmental law, land use issues, and zoning trends, with preference for attorneys who have represented applicants before planning and zoning boards or other governmental agencies.
+ Ability to effectively prioritize a high volume of active projects in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Notary Public certification preferred.
Education and Experience
+ J.D. from an accredited law school.
+ Active attorney license in good standing and admission to the bar in at least one state.
+ At least 10 years of substantive legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department handling commercial real estate transactions.
Physical Requirements
+ Must be able to sit and look at a computer for long periods of time.
+ Occasional travel required.
