Real Estate Associate | City of London Our client, a Tier 1-ranked real estate and social housing specialist law firm, is seeking an Associate to join their London office. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-profile development projects, support key partners, and play a significant role in the growth of a market-leading team. With over 150 years in the City of London the firm provides specialist legal advice across construction, corporate, projects, property, and commercial litigation. They have a strong client base including Registered Providers, private developers, and investment funds, and are recognised in Legal 500 and Chambers UK. The Real Estate team is at the heart of the firm, with 15 dedicated partners handling a wide variety of property transactions. Clients include social housing providers, care home operators, pension funds, build-to-rent developers, and private investors. Projects range from small developments to multi-thousand-unit sites, with transactions frequently covered in industry and national press and sometimes nominated for awards. This role focuses on site acquisition and development projects, providing hands-on experience across the full property lifecycle. You will work closely with partners, contribute to strategic team growth, and have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of high-value property matters. Key Responsibilities: - Manage day-to-day files, including site acquisition, development, and stock rationalisation projects - Draft and negotiate development agreements, plot/block/phase leases, transfer documents, option agreements, and stock transfer contracts - Conduct due diligence, prepare title reports, and propose solutions to title issues - Review Section 106 agreements, planning consents, and other regulatory matters (desirable) - Deal with easements, deeds of release, SDLT, and VAT structuring - Maintain clear and regular communication with clients, attending weekly project calls where required - Supervise and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and contributing to training - Organise and maintain accurate electronic and hard copy files - Ensure compliance with Lexcel procedures and firm policies - Contribute to business development and relationship-building initiatives Candidate Requirements: - Qualified solicitor with 3-5 years PQE in real estate, with experience in site acquisition and development - Strong academic record, ideally with a 2:1 or above - Proven ability to manage files independently and meet client deadlines - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client-facing roles - Commercially aware, proactive, and capable of providing practical solutions - High attention to detail and strong organisational skills - Comfortable working with minimal supervision and supporting team development - Familiarity with Registered Providers is advantageous but not essential - Competent with Word, Outlook, and internet applications If you are a proactive, commercially aware real estate solicitor seeking a challenging and rewarding role in London, submit your CV and covering letter to the firm's recruitment team.
