Job Summary: The Reading Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Position directly supervises students.


Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm


Duties/Responsibilities:

Help students achieve improved standardized testing scores in mathEstablish a high degree of student/instructor rapport and creates a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to promote student motivationMaintain a high degree of accountability within the classroom setting in order to allow for maximum learningDocument student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior in a timely manner and within program guidelinesDeliver instruction using provided curriculum resources or new/updated curriculumIntegrate applied academic activities into classroom curriculumMaintain adequate classroom cleanliness and preparationEffectively relate to the student population and recognize student success in the classroomAdhere to all data integrity measures related to classroom instruction and testingPerform all other duties as assigned Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Certified to teach in the state of Iowa. 


Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.


Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to effectively relate to student population.
