About this team

The Raw Materials Developer (Colour) is a technical expert who is passionate about executing seasonal and long range colour developments. They lead from a place of inquiry and apply reason and critical thinking to analyse and improve process and product offerings.


A day in the life Visually and digitally reviews lab dips to meet colour and colourfastness quality standardsTracks all approvals and rejections in PLM to ensure calendar and buy ready deadlines are metMeasures and tracks supplier performance in terms of colour matching, submit turn time, colour quality and communicationTravels internationally to work with vendors on colour performance and improve seasonal buy readinessBuilds and maintains working relationship with vendors and seeks their expertiseProactively communicates achievability and feasibility concerns to cross functional teamsEscalates issues appropriately as they arise and offers solutions and alternativesAttends seasonal accountability meetings to ensure buy readinessWorks with cross-functional partners to confirm new materials are achievable in a range of colours and will execute in season


Qualifications:2-5 years experience working as a colourist for an apparel brand or textile mill, preferable a sport performance or fashion brandScore of 16 or better on the Munsell 100 Hue Test Knowledge of dye formulas and dyeing techniques Strong digital colour experience in using Datacolor ToolsStrong knowledge of fabric construction/finishing properties and how this can affect colourExperience traveling outside of North America, preferable AsiaStrong knowledge of industry testing standards/test reports
