Railroad Construction Oversight Inspector

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive part-time Railroad Construction Oversight Inspector to represent and safeguard railroad interests in infrastructure projects and maintenance activities. This part-time role involves conducting site visits, preparing on-site reports, and ensuring that all work affecting railroad operations aligns with safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Observe and assess all activities performed on Railroad right-of-way by contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
• Prepare detailed on-site reports documenting field conditions, construction progress, and coordination efforts.
• Act as the primary liaison between railroad operations and public entities and their contractors/consultants.
• Monitor construction and maintenance activities near or on railroad structures to protect railroad assets.
• Ensure adherence to FRA regulations and internal railroad policies.
• Participate in planning meetings, site visits, and project reviews to advocate for railroad safety and operational continuity.
• Substantial years of experience in railroad infrastructure, structural engineering, or inspection oversight.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Strong understanding of railroad operations, structural systems, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience working with public agencies, contractors, and engineering consultants.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project locations in the continental U.S. approximately 80% of working time.
• Possess a valid driving license.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in preparing field reports and using inspection software.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to conduct site visits in various weather conditions and terrains.
• Comfortable working near active rail lines and in industrial environments.
