**Job Title: Rail Operator**
**Job Description**
Ensure personal safety and possess a clear understanding of safety processes and procedures related to chemical material movement. The role requires a basic understanding of shuttle wagon operations and pump/blower operation experience. The Rail Operator is responsible for receiving and shipping all raw materials transported by rail. This includes unloading raw materials into the appropriate storage silos by operating the shuttle wagon and unloading equipment for liquid and powder materials using mechanical pumps and blowers. Basic maintenance knowledge, such as cleaning filters and troubleshooting shuttle wagon failures, is essential. Additionally, you may assist other parts of the plant as needed.
**Responsibilities**
+ Follow safety procedures for machines and operational activities to prevent safety incidents.
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rail unloading work area.
+ Coordinate with the resin lead and filter cleaning agency to ensure filter readiness.
+ Execute raw material handling, charging, and monitoring consumption according to prescribed formats.
+ Dispose of waste appropriately within the shift.
+ Write shift reports and communicate abnormalities in processes, products, or machinery.
+ Submit samples of each rail car to the resin lab operator for quality checks before unloading.
+ Reject rail cars failing quality control checks, if necessary.
+ Prevent contamination of raw materials during shipping and unloading.
+ Maintain proper housekeeping of the rail yard and work area based on 5S principles.
+ Keep a logbook of all received, shipped, and unloaded rail cars with corresponding dates.
**Essential Skills**
+ Knowledge of chemical safety and basic chemical processes.
+ Experience in heavy equipment operation and outdoor work.
+ Proficient in manual labor and handling heavy lifting.
+ Strong communication and writing skills.
+ Ability to perform inventory checks and manage chemical testing.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Ability to follow and implement safety procedures effectively.
+ Understanding of shuttle wagon operations and maintenance.
+ Experience in a warehouse environment.
**Work Environment**
The role requires the ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, push, and pull. You must be capable of lifting 50 lbs and reaching in all directions. The position involves walking and standing for extended periods to cover 12-hour shifts, along with other physical requirements as needed.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Decatur, Alabama.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $41600.00/yr.
