The Rail Signals & Communications Foreperson is located in the GTA and typically reports directly to the Manager. Their primary focus is installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing Signals & Communications equipment. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Test, maintain and improve grade crossing warning, AEI, or defect detector systemsLoading and unloading tools and equipment to and from various vehicles and machinesComply with CROR standards around signaling as well as Hours-of-Service LawCollaborate with local railroad customers, suppliers and stakeholdersConduct themselves in a safe mannerTravel to various sites across the GTA and Southern OntarioOn-call responsibilities to respond to dispatch and Trouble CallsSite and ground clearing for site access as necessaryDigging holes and trenches for cables, conduit and ductsInstalling and levelling foundationsCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED equivalentKnowledge of basic electronics and electrical fundamentals, particularly low-voltage AC and DC circuits, relay or ladder logic.WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
2+ years of experience as a Foreperson in Signals & CommunicationsAdditional 7 years of experience in S&CSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to read wiring diagrams and use various testing equipment such as multi-meter, megger and short finderKnowledge of rail operations and railroad signaling principlesStrong time management, initiative and ability to work independentlyAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel for long periods of timeAble to lift 50 pounds repeatedlyClimb ladders and cantilever signalsWorking outside in variable weather conditionsMS Office software proficiencyWilling and able to travel in and around the GTA and Southern OntarioValid Class G Driver’s LicensePlease be advised that a Criminal Background Check and Professional Reference Check will be required as part of our employment screening and selection process.
