UPMC Montefiore is hiring a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to join our Weekend Program Radiology Team!

This role offers flexible 8-hour or 12-hour shifts scheduled between Friday at 3:00 PM and Monday at 7:00 AM, including select holidays. This position will predominately perform portable imaging scans throughout Montefiore Hospital. Weekend Program Guidelines:

Eligible participants must have a minimum of 6 months of experience and work 48 weekends per year, 24 hours per 
weekend (either two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts per weekend), between the hours of Friday at 3 p.m. and 
Monday at 7 a.m. Holiday scheduling and work requirements will mirror the department’s standard expectations for non-weekend staff. Employees participating in the Weekend Program will receive a 15% differential. Weekend program benefits (medical benefits, paid short-term and long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, PTO 
accrual) offered as they would be for full-time staff.

Responsibilities:

Review patient history and physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to ensure optimal image acquisition.

Accurately document relevant patient history in the electronic medical record as required.

Administer oral and rectal contrast in accordance with physician orders and department policy.

Ensure all imaging exams are appropriately coded and tracked in the Radiology Information System (RIS), properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and that all associated charges are entered accurately.

Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently, following established protocols and without the need for direct supervision.

Operate complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, manipulate, and document image data, completing procedures in alignment with established protocols.

Exercise independent judgment in adjusting protocols as needed, demonstrating initiative and technical competence in the appropriate application of ionizing radiation.

Clearly and compassionately communicate procedure instructions to patients, helping to alleviate anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
