Hartford HealthCare HHC department responsible for the risk safety and management of medical equipment to reduce the potential for adverse impact on the safety and health of patients staff and customers coming to the organizationrsquos facilitiesBiomedical Engineering addresses issues related to proper selection of the appropriate medical equipment to support an environment for the efficient and effective provision of safe patient care and treatment effective preparation and education of staff responsible for the equipment use and the maintenance and repair of the equipment The department is also accountable for maintaining an accurate medical equipment database and inventoryPosition ResponsibilitiesSupport the medical imaging needs of the HHC System by performing and overseeing the equipment service and maintenance of diagnostic imaging systems through equipment evaluation technology assessment site planning and project managementResponsible for the education and training for both technical and professional staff on equipment use and features Reports to the Radiology Engineering Manager Biomedical EngineeringProvides primary and ldquost Passrdquo service to medical imaging technology ie ultrasound CT radiology nuclear medicine digital radiography DR mammography etc and other modalities as needed Develops and maintains appropriate procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital systems maintain backup procedures for information management systemsInvestigate medical device related incidents to determine causes and proposeimplement preventative measuresDevelop policies to meet all medical equipment regulations ie Safe Medical Device Act etcCoordinate medical device related recalls and
