Radiation Therapist I - Radiation Oncology

As a Radiation Therapist, you will implement prescribed treatments to patients with various forms of cancer. Radiation is administered in therapeutic doses and can send certain localized forms of cancer into remission. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of cancer after they have been removed during surgery. In this role, your work is an essential element of our innovative care plan designed to aid the cancer fighting journey. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families, all while gaining hands-on experience in a technologically advanced and fast-paced healthcare environment. **A caregiver in this position works 8-hour days between 7:00AM - 6:00PM. Working extended days, depending on business needs, may be required.** **This caregiver will rotate between St. Lucie West and the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide therapeutic and patient care services to deliver radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician. + Determine and deliver appropriate patient treatment plans in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist. + Monitor and document the patient's condition and report any adverse reactions. + Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols. + Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately. + Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerator. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible + Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing + Current state licensure + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross + Experience with Radiation Oncology-specific electronic medical records Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Experience with External Radiation Therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT Simulation + Aria, Truebeam and Siemens CT sim experience **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting. + Ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs. Ability to push/pull over 100 lbs.
