As a Radiation Effects Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and mission readiness of satellite electronics operating in the space radiation environment. This role spans test planning, implementation, and analysis, with a strong emphasis on scalable test infrastructure, data quality, and cross-team collaboration. You will work independently in lab and test-site environments, bring a curiosity-driven mindset to continuously improving test processes and automation, and clearly document results to support engineering and program decisions.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with hardware design and radiation effects engineers to define radiation test objectives and plans
- Coordinate logistics and execution with internal teams and third-party test vendors
- Travel to conduct radiation testing on electronic components and satellite hardware at heavy ion, proton, and gamma irradiation facilities
- Analyze radiation test data to identify failure modes and assess component or system behavior
- Develop and maintain test automation and data-collection scripts
- Improve test documentation, data management, and workflows to increase throughput, repeatability, and long-term accessibility of results
