Job Description

The Process Lead – Payroll Accounting is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll accounting activities with a focus on complex journal entries, reconciliations, and compliance. While this is not a people leadership role, the Process Lead will perform review and approval functions for work prepared by junior and senior specialists. The role also acts as a backup to the Payroll Accounting Team Lead during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of operations and adherence to deadlines.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Perform and oversee payroll accounting activities, including complex payroll journals, reconciliations, and reporting.Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and reports prepared by specialists to ensure accuracy and compliance.Analyze complex variances and resolve discrepancies between timekeeping, payroll registers, and general ledger accounts.Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external audit requirements.Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external audit requests.Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and ensure timely reporting.Prepare and validate reports in line with SLAs and contribute to process improvement initiatives.Serve as the designated backup to the Team Lead to ensure smooth operations during planned or unplanned absences.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field5 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 4 years focused on payroll accounting or payroll-related reconciliationsStrong knowledge of payroll-related reconciliations (e.g., timekeeping vs. payroll register, payroll vs. GL, accruals vs. actual payouts)Hands-on experience with payroll and accounting systems such as Workday, ADP, ADP GlobalView, or OracleCPA license is a plus but not requiredExperience in Blackline system is a plus but not required
