How will you make an impact?

You will join a diverse team of scientists and engineers in the Sensor and Chemistry Technology Group that together develops the sensor system at the heart of the Ion Torrent Next-Generation Sequencing technology. Only a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team like ours can work across several fields and technologies to deliver an exciting, semiconductor-based biosensor platform that impacts society daily. Together, we drive innovation and process improvements for the surface chemistry of our chip technology, ensure system-level integration, and deliver those solutions to manufacturing and our customers.

What will you do?

Explore and develop new surface treatment technologiesCharacterize surfaces through both analytical testing and functional sequencing assaysSupport creation and transfer of processes and protocols to manufacturingJoin product development teams crafting innovative platforms and solutions for our customers

How will you get here?

Education:

PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field ORMS/BS in these fields with at least 3/6 years of proven experience

Experience:

Proven track record working in a wet laboratory setting with industry standard toolsHands-on experience in surface chemistry and the functionalization of silicon, glass, and metal oxide surfacesExperience with sophisticated and/or automated laboratory equipmentExperience in process development and documentationFirsthand experience with a variety of surface characterization techniques

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Effective communication skills in writing, presentation, and conversationAbility to collaborate and connect with colleagues across various backgroundsSelf-starter mentality and experimental curiosityPhenomenal problem-solving skillsProficient with experimental data analysis and basic statistical methods to drive decision makingKnowledge of molecular biology or DNA sequencing technologies would be a definite plus

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $100,000.00–$125,000.00.
