We are hiring an R&D Engineering Technician position that will be focused on the assembly, test, and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and optical systems for newly developed Hach products.  This position is instrumental in supporting our Research & Development teams as they develop new products from prototype phase to production.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, this role will be onsite (5 days/week) in our Loveland, CO headquarters.

We keep many things in house (10m EMC chamber, HALT chamber, PCBA/SMT line, injection molding, fabrication, production/manufacturing, etc.)

What you’ll do:

Perform electrical, mechanical, and optical assembly of product prototypes

Perform fine‑pitch SMT and through‑hole soldering (including very small components) and board‑level rework/repair.

Assist in product testing. Set up and run functional, environmental, and reliability tests (e.g., HALT); fabricate simple test fixtures and jigs as needed.

Fabricate design verification and production test fixturing.

Perform board level repair and troubleshooting as needed, you may Interpret complex technical schematics; flag mismatches and drive corrections with design engineers.

Build and test multi‑wire cable harnesses; contribute to interface documentation and verification testing.

Use common diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, thermal/optical tools) to isolate issues and validate fixes.

Partner closely with cross‑functional engineers; provide feedback on work instructions and build procedures to improve repeatability and quality.

What you bring:

A.A.S. in MET/EET or equivalent experience, and 5+ years in electro‑mechanical hardware development or product realization.

Proven SMT (fine‑pitch) and through‑hole soldering capability; confident microscope work on dense PCBAs.

Proficient with common troubleshooting tools (i.e., oscilloscopes, multimeters, microscopes, thermal cameras)

Safe, precise use of hand/power tools (i.e., wrenches, screwdrivers, power drills)

You’ll stand out with experience in:

Environmental chamber testing

Installation, alignment, and integration of optics/electro-optics

Optical metrology equipment (i.e., beam profilers, spectrophotometers, power meters)

LabVIEW Programming

Electrical or mechanical design experience, particularly circuit board design experience

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $75,000 - $98,000 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
