Responsibilities The Opportunity The main objective of this role is to Lead Innovation projects for Mexico and LATAM region across technical stages that include idea generation and product design to meet consumer needs with innovative and consumer centric products, also coordinating and supporting scale up trials in pilot and industrial plants; also the role is responsible for Productivity, Brand Stewardship and Portfolio Transformation initiatives that includes sodium, sugar and sat fat reduction in LATAM sector. This role will interact with R&D Regional and Global teams, Nutrition, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance as well as vendors and other functional staff. Your Impact As R&D Region Sr Engineer your responsibilities would consist of: Lead the innovation process from idea generation to product launch, including laboratory and pilot plant prototyping, ingredient screening, sensory and consumer trials, ensuring regulatory, nutrition, and food safety compliance, and supporting scale-up at industrial plants. Drive brand quality initiatives and participate in productivity projects to maintain and improve core and new products. Develop technical solutions for portfolio transformation by reducing sugar, sodium, and saturated fat, evaluating ingredients, functionality, cost, regulatory compliance, and consumer perception. Contribute to new product strategy by identifying consumer trends, technologies, and ingredients, providing technical input on costs, formulations, and operational feasibility. Propose differentiated and incremental innovations to strengthen the product pipeline. Collaborate with regional and global R&D teams and cross-functional departments including Nutrition, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and external vendors. Support the R&D team in achieving both short- and long-term goals. Qualifications Who Are We Looking For? Education Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Experience & Skills 4+ years in Research and Development, ideally in food product development from concept to plant scale, with a results-oriented and proactive mindset. Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and decision-making skills, able to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking abilities to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners. Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn, explore new trends, ingredients, and technologies, with a self-driven approach to delivering projects.
