R&D People and Project Leader role for Central and Eastern European countries

Corteva Agriscience™ has an exciting opportunity for a Research and Development People and Project Leader role on its Biology Research department (Integrated Field Science in Crop Health Research and Development, IFS CHRD).

Purpose: Leadership of the IFS CHRD teams for Central and Eastern countries and project management.

People Leader responsibilities: Leads a team of field scientists and is responsible for all aspects of people leadership, formal people development, succession planning, budgeting, capital, and work plan distribution and execution within a Commercial Unit serving as a strong ally to the regional and global project leaders in ensuring the biology-aligned milestones are achieved.  Also, accountable for achievements of business goals through supporting staff in the maintenance, expansion, and development of technical product uses consistent with business and stewardship objectives.  Facilitates ideation in CU on local projects and other bottom-up innovation activities.  Represents IFS in Cross Functional Leadership Teams of Commercial Unit.Project management: Working in partnership with regional technical leader is accountable for the design, interpretation, presentation, documentation, and archiving of the research to address assigned biology key questions.  Serves as the interface between the Local Product Concept Team and the IFS organization, ensuring that all biological questions are answered and technical information is transferred to the Local Product Concept Team.  Contribution to the biology package may include responsibility for the creation of a regulatory BioDossier in a country or being assigned to lead or contribute toward the creation of zonal regulatory BioDossiers.  Identifies and communicates local competitor activities.

Key responsibilities:

Management and professional development of Field Scientists, Field Station Leaders, Principal Biologists and Technical / Administrative staff.Succession planning and career development management for direct staff and serves as a representative to the Integrated Field Science R&D function and ensures Field Science employees are considered for career opportunities.Accountable for the quality and productivity of the IFS CHRD team.Represents the CU within the Global and EMEA Integrated Field Science function and works to establish an effective biology workplan that efficiently and effectively utilizes resources together with regional and country project leaders.Overall responsibility for management of IFS budget and use of contractual funds, where appropriate, to meet biology workplan needs. Owns the biology scorecard for contracted and internal trials and projects.Represents IFS CHRD on the CU Business Management Teams and People Development Teams, ensuring effective communication and team work between functions as well as contributing on all business matters.Responsible as Principal Biologist for flawless field trial execution conducted by R&D colleagues and/or external contractors: Understanding and writing of protocols, forecasting sample needs and organizing local shipments. Management of projects including planning of trials, organizing protocol review meetings, crop destruction after trial competition, agreements with external contractors, following of payments etc... Organizes field tours by selecting appropriate and conclusive trials to support decision making in a regional/global trial program. Summarizes trial data using company systems and provides key observations on product performance to the Project leaders in IFS and cross functional product development teams.Monitors official biology trials and compiles summary dossiers to obtain approval for label claims; follows up and takes necessary action to get positive Ministry of Agriculture audit reports. Prepares technical part of new product label in accordance with official trial reports and company’s internal label procedure.Serves as R&D expert and technical focal point for specific products and crops in the assigned territory.Serves as local source of knowledge for new technological trends like digitalization of agriculture.Provides input on the critical assessment and prioritization of technical needs and activities essential to the implementation of business strategy.

Requirements:

University degree – BSc. from faculty of agriculture.MSc or PhD is preferred.Good command of English as well as local language is essential.2 - 5 years of experience in crop protection industry.Skilled in multi years planning of activities.Familiar with regulations for field research activities for Plant Protection Product registration.Leadership, initiative and proactivity, versatile individual who can solve practical problems in sometimes remote locations and is committed to a strong safety and stewardship culture.Broad scientific and agronomic background with strong culture of field research in plant protection products.Availability to travel nationally and internationally as per requirements of the role.Good management of Microsoft Office package. ARM knowledge would be appreciated.Valid driving license.Location: Eastern or Central European countries, preferably Romania, Poland and Hungary. Flexibility to relocate to other countries.Knowledge about biological and seeds business is a plus.
