The Job:
As a R&D Lead Test Technician will provide a wide range of direct and supervisory technical/testing support for the R&D Product Development Team to facilitate the development of new and/or improved products and manufacturing processes. Primary focus will be in the assessment of both Lenox, Dewalt and competitor products by providing accurate and timely product performance data generated from both automated test rigs and manual test methods. As a R&D Lead Test Technician, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to:
Provide overall management/direct support for the receipt, organization, prioritization and execution of test requests submitted by the ELM Product Engineering team Provide overall management/direct support for the acquisition/storage of testing materials and the maintenance of R&D testing equipment Provide training and guidance for R&D Test Technicians Set-up and conduct R&D product tests (per ISO procedures) on Band Saw, Hand Tool / Power Tool Accessory test equipment. Basic tasks include the following: Operate/maintain the machine, capture test data, monitor test status, and remove chips and sawn material Set-up and conduct R&D product tests (per ISO procedures) using manual, hand-testing methods. Basic tasks include the following: Operate/maintain hand-test power tools, capture test data, and remove chips and sawn material Ensure the effective capture of all test data (and critical product performance observations) using automated test data collections systems Support R&D Engineering efforts by using basic engineering theory to suggest potential solutions to issues encountered in product development programs – while maintaining strict “company confidential” directives Perform Preventive Maintenance procedures on all test equipment Perform machine troubleshooting and basic repairs in support of testing programs Calibrate departmental gages per ISO procedures Conduct product Pre/Post-test measurements as needed using various gages and QC Lab equipment Coordinate fixture fabrication and/or machine repairs with Tool Room personnel and/or outside vendors Provide support, as needed, to Engineering/Sales personnel during customer/associate training sessions (Note: Strong communication/interpersonal skills are important) Follow all applicable company Safety Initiatives (e.g. PPE, JSA, LO-TO, etc.)The Person:

4-Year High School diploma with basic machine/cutting tool knowledge (Technical Associates degree preferred) 2+ years directly related experience. Experience with using Power Tools and Hand Tools (Drills, Recips, Hole Saws, etc.) Able to contribute both independently (as well as in team situations) by possessing technical aptitude, basic problem solving skills, conflict resolution abilities, prioritization mastery, and demonstrated leadership. Able to work safely in a complex and varied machine environment. Ability to work and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.Able to read and interpret test machine operating manuals.Able to follow/execute test procedures with consistent precision.Working knowledge of calibration processes. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required) and Outlook email.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship (H1B, OPT/CPT, TN etc).
