Key responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success through the development of technology, software, products, and systems. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant challenges. You will also demonstrate your expertise by contributing ideas and working both independently and as part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
R&D Engineer / Embedded Hardware in the field of industrial flow measurement technology at ABB PAMA/Instrumentation in Göttingen/Germany.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Work as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.
Realize the hardware architecture and detailed design, including the development of electronic projects with expertise in analog, digital, low-power, and low-voltage electronics.
Create detailed technical specifications for hardware components in close collaboration with mechanical designers, firmware developers, and certification bodies.
Ensure robust and reliable designs through simulation, analysis, qualification strategies, and comprehensive documentation of risk and error management.
Plan, organize, and support development-related measurements, product approvals, and prepare manufacturing documentation for series production.
Collaborate closely with other departments, suppliers, and coordinate external partners for hardware-related services when necessary.
Support the development team in meeting regulatory requirements for product design, labeling, and documentation.

Qualifications for the role
Successfully completed an engineering degree (Bachelor or Master) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Several years of professional experience in hardware design for embedded systems.
Strong expertise in schematic and PCB design, as well as digital and/or analog circuit design and simulation.
Expertise in low-voltage electronics, explosion-proof, and EMC design.
Experience in design verification, including strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as documentation of electromechanical products.
Ideally, experience in developing high-precision, low-noise, low-power measurement electronics, plus embedded programming skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international team environment.
Excellent communication skills in both German and English.
