Corteva Agriscience is seeking a 6-month Field Sensing Intern in research and development field sensing and internet of things applied to plant breeding, crop health, and field evaluation of products. The position is situated at the Corteva’s Johnston, IA Global Campus.  This position will provide exposure to a wide variety of novel sensing equipment and techniques while also performing computational tasks in model development and data analysis.  The position will include engagement with researchers across a variety of disciplines, and third parties on the cutting-edge of technology, to further an understanding of future farming and phenotyping operations for product development. Any STEM major or those with STEM interests are invited to apply.

What You'll Need:

Ensure timely data collection, analysis and organizationPotential to fly UAV’s and/or operate robots whilst operating their associated payloadsAbility to collaborate with different groups and parties to achieve project goalsDay trips to off-site locations may be requiredContribute to group plans and discussion around the impact and usage of technologiesUse available sensors to create and manage a research project to be presented to station staffData collection and equipment handlingData processing and analyticsWillingness to work inside/outside in a range of environmentsWorking in an interdisciplinary research environment

What Skills You Need:

Priority will be given to students that are at least current seniors at an accredited university or community college. Interns can be undergraduate or graduate students.Must be enrolled at an accredited university or community college at time of internshipExperience applying technology to plant breeding and screening techniquesExperience with GIS, sensors, remote sensing, and agronomy desiredExperience in engineering, designing, building, and testing equipment/sensorsMicrosoft office suiteProgramming basics understanding preferredAbility to learn and adapt in fast-paced environmentsDemonstrated ability to organize large/complex datasetsExperience working with sensitive/delicate equipmentPassion to explore, create, question, research, propose ideas, and overcome challenges
