Quality Technician (Food & Beverage)
Conway, AR


The Opportunity
The Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality functions to ensure products meet established Smurfit WestRock and customer quality standards. This role works closely with Production, the Quality Manager, and the Customer Service Department to support quality assurance activities across the plant. Responsibilities include calibration and maintenance of testing equipment, conducting quality, customer, and regulatory audits, and managing product samples and testing to ensure consistency of incoming materials and finished production. The Quality Technician will coordinate with the Quality Manager on rework activities and may lead sorting and rework processes as needed. This role also supports quality improvement initiatives, complaint management and resolution, and assists in maintaining the plant’s Quality Program and SQF certification. Additional duties may be assigned to support business needs.


How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock
Manage internal and external quality complaints. Lead rework and sorting processes when required. Perform calibration and maintenance of quality testing equipment. Analyze quality data and support general problem-solving efforts. Assist the Defect Elimination Team. Ensure the facility meets SQF and internal quality standards through proper documentation and adherence to processes. Support facility audits and regulatory compliance. Develop and implement corrective actions. Perform incoming material inspections. Complete additional duties as assigned.


What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of the carton folding or packaging industry preferred. Strong communication, leadership, strategic and tactical planning, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with data analysis and statistical methods. Ability to complete a computer skills assessment. Willingness to obtain Internal Auditor certification. SQF (Safe Quality Food) knowledge preferred. Willingness to travel occasionally. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multitask. Flexibility to meet changing business needs.
