The Quality Supervisor is responsible for all functions relating to quality,inspection, documentation, customer quality/warranty issues, and system
approvals plant-wide. Maintains high standards by encouraging and embedding
defect prevention and correction at every stage.
This person must be personally responsible, motivated, organized, regularly present and punctual, committed to doing the best job possible and does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
Unlike a desk-based or virtual role, the Quality Supervisor must maintain a strong daily presence on the floor (Gemba), be fully engaged with operations, and set the pace for urgency, accountability, and discipline.
Develop and continuously improve standards for receiving inspection, in-process packaging, and final inspection activities. Ensure all procedures are carried out safely and with the highest level of quality, while presenting recommendations for continuous improvement. The Quality Supervisor is also responsible for establishing, administering and maintaining the site quality management systems related to
processes, systems and tasks.Maintain a strong and consistent daily presence where the work is performed, engaging directly with operations and quality personnel to identify issues early, ensure alignment with standards, and demonstrate visible leadership.Foster a culture of urgency, accountability, and discipline by modeling the expected behaviors, ensuring timely follow-through, and holding team members responsible for meeting clearly defined quality standards and commitments.Take proactive ownership of quality concerns by performing thorough root cause analysis, driving resolutions to closure, and implementing preventive measures to ensure issues do not recur.Partner with Quality and Operations to monitor products, packaging, and warehouse processes, define and maintain quality standards, and drive continuous improvement through corrective actions, cost-reduction initiatives, and customer satisfaction improvements.Track, measure, and report progress on all improvement activities, ensuring accountability to defined goals, timelines, and deliverables.Define, develop, and maintain work instructions and quality specifications to standardize processes. Perform process audits, document findings, and ensure timely corrective action implementation.Oversee the returns department personnel and processes, ensuring consistent, efficient handling of returned and warranty parts while driving departmental output, productivity, and overall performance.Track and analyze return data to identify trends, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Evaluate the quality of returned material and make disposition decisions on inventory reintroduction.Oversee and facilitate lean and continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate waste (TIMWOOD), strengthen standard work to improve process flows, enhance efficiencies, and build quality into every stage of operations.Assist and partner with Operations, Purchasing, Catalog, Sales, and Management in interpreting requirements and developing procedures that ensure compliance with customer expectations.Supervise, mentor, and train quality personnel within the quality group instilling accountability, urgency, and ownership of quality. Provide consistent coaching, feedback, and direction to drive results.Maintain high standards by embedding defect prevention and correction into every stage of operations.Conduct quarterly audits/reviews to assess quality control effectiveness and recommend improvements.Partner with the operations team in training and supervising team members.Protect operations by maintaining confidentiality of all business strategies, trade secrets, and financial information.Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and antitrust regulations, addressing concerns and liabilities as necessary.Conduct special projects as needed.Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager with reliability, punctuality, and commitment to results.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Strong Leadership presence on the floor with proven ability to engage teams and drive accountability.Exceptional time management, communication, and attention to detail.Formal Statistical knowledge.Proven experience in Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement, with certification a plus.Strong multi-task skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and capable of building reports for management.TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of quality control experience, preferably in an automotive/high volume manufacturing environment.Knowledge of automotive OE quality systems / requirements a plus.ASQ certification is a plus.Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
