Manufacturing Unit Manager
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. We’re looking for a dynamic Quality Manager to lead and embed our quality strategy across factory operations, supply chain, and customer interfaces. This pivotal role, based in Napier, Hawke’s Bay, is focused on building a strong quality culture, implementing robust systems, and ensuring compliance with international standards while also inspiring and developing a high-performing team.

Key ResponsibilitiesDeploy and lead the local quality strategy in alignment with ABB’s global quality management system, ensuring a strong quality culture and sustainable operations.Lead and develop a high-performing quality team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.Drive continuous improvement through robust root cause analysis, data analytics, and preventive actions to achieve zero-defect performance.Execute effective audit programs to assess compliance with ISO, UL, and ABB’s QWINS standards, ensuring certification requirements are met.Champion customer-focused quality management, embedding voice-of-the-customer into processes and driving resolution of customer cases through corrective actions.Act as a process owner/sponsor for assigned quality systems and tools, leading implementation, monitoring progress, and driving continuous improvement.Collaborate across functions to ensure quality is embedded in product and process design, and that risks and solutions are evaluated from a customer/stakeholder perspective.Coach and mentor team members, identifying development opportunities and supporting career growth within the quality function and broader operations.Our teams support each other, collaborate, and never stop learning. Qualifications for the RoleExtensive experience in quality management, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial operations.Proven track record in leading and developing teams, with a focus on building capability and driving engagement.Strong understanding of international quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and audit processes.Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use insights to drive improvements.Demonstrated success in leading quality improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.Project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.Customer-focused mindset, with experience managing feedback and resolving quality-related issues.Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards.Technical or engineering background, supporting product and process quality from design through delivery.We give you the space to lead, the support to grow, and the chance to make a difference.
