Quality Engineering Manager
As the Manufacturing Quality Engineering (MQE) Manager, you will lead and oversee continuous process improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process, ensuring the highest quality standards across all products. You will manage a team of quality engineers and work collaboratively with various departments to achieve operational excellence. **Responsibilities:** + Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement quality strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s overall objectives. Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. + Quality Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate all quality activities to assure optimum quality in all products manufactured and assembled. Oversee the creation and maintenance of quality documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards. + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, planning, and other departments to ensure the quality of the products. Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues and resolutions. + Problem Solving: Investigate internal and external quality concerns, leading cross-functional teams to determine root causes and implement permanent corrective actions using methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis. + Process Improvement: Identify and implement innovative ways to improve quality through new process controls and ensure sustainment following successful implementation. Utilize Six Sigma methodologies and Lean principles to drive continuous improvement. + Supplier Development: Support Supplier Development Engineering in addressing vendor hardware discrepancies, ensuring supplier quality standards are met. + Data Analysis: Analyze work instructions and procedures for errors and potential failure points. Present data-driven reports to support investigation conclusions and quality improvements. + Customer Interface: Interface with customers as necessary to complete delivery orders, including the presentation of lot data packages and First Article Inspections (FAIs). + Daily Operations: Participate in daily management meetings alongside program support teams. Ensure the majority of your time is spent on the manufacturing floor, driving quality improvements directly within the assembly area. **Qualifications:** + Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and statistical software. Strong data analysis skills with the ability to present findings in comprehensive reports. + Industry Experience: Experience in Electronics or Ordnance and use of energetic materials, powders/propellants is a strong plus. Familiarity with IPC-610 and JSTD 001 certification is preferred. + Quality Tools: Training and demonstrated competency with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, including D/PFMEA, Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). + Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to drive the use of the Fortive Business System (FBS) in operations and other departments. Experience with lean manufacturing, including Six Sigma or ASQ certification, is a strong plus. + Audit Experience: Auditing experience including support of internal, customer, or registrar audits. + Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, suppliers, and customers. + High Energy & Adaptability: Must be high-energy, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. **Education and Experience Requirements:** + Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred. + Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing quality roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial position.
