We are looking for you to join our team as a Quality Engineering Manager 3 based in Sunnyvale, CA.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of developing and implementing quality and engineering best practices across the Program Life-Cycle along with a broad knowledge of end-to-end program lifecycles in a DOD environment and hands- on experience managing the quality processes in every phase of a technical program from proposal activities through delivery and site installations of systems. The candidate shall have the ability to integrate, engage and lead a quality team to perform at a top level of performance while driving improvement in the team dynamics. The candidate will be expected to drive quality processes throughout the entire organization along with leveraging their experience/background to bring alternative ideas/solutions to drive continuous improvement of business processes and key elements of mission assurance including risk management and enhancing the reliability and maintainability of program deliverables. The candidate will be required to have strong collaboration skills, demonstrated capability to partner cross-IPTs/cross-discipline/cross-function.

What you will get to do:

Leads operations for the QE function inclusive to administration of budgets, schedules, and performance standards as well as leading proposal efforts for the QE team.Leads the application and integration of mission assurance tools and methods across the product lifecycleAssures compliance in quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, and subcontractor and supplier quality in accordance with contractual requirements and drives forward early predictive indicators of risk.Leverages comprehensive metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission success.Sets the strategy to meet customer’s expectations, regularly communicates program status. Provides situational awareness and communication both internally and externally.Promotes the professional development of the Quality workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance. Influences Leadership development with the focus on strong succession planning and strategic leadership movement and partners with Business leaders to build the leadership depth that supports our Quality Succession Planning process. Supports the Business Acquisition Process by participating in proposal reviews, assessing program start-up readiness, and providing status of proposal activities.Engages on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and proceduresMaintains compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the performance and quality of products conform to established standards, specifications and customer requirementsLeverages metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess performance and risks, and determine resources to achieve high levels of performance

Basic Qualifications for the Quality Engineering Manager 3:

 Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing (OR a Master's and 6 or more years of experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing)5 or more years of experience of relevant formal management experienceExperience with the program / product lifecycle in the areas of new business pursuit, design, supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, reliability, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to qualityExperience managing both salaried and union employeesExperience with the application of quality principles and practices (e.g., inspection, material review, etc.) supporting the manufacture and test of complex assembliesExperience in engaging on the shop floor to provide solutions and coach and mentor others in the use of quality principles and practicesExperience with quality processes related to in process/final inspection, NDT, receiving inspection and calibrationThe ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearanceU.S. Citizenship required

Close tolerance inspection processes experienceHeavy equipment final assembly and test working experienceExperience with ISO 9001 Quality Management SystemsExperience with DCMA, DOD, MDA organizationsExperience with Naval specifications such as T9001BMaster’s degree in an engineering or technical fieldBroad experience in mission assurance, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and global supply chainDefense Industry experience as a Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering Manager or Manufacturing ManagementLean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.Ability to obtain a DOD Top Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $154,600.00 - $231,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
