Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer II is responsible for monitoring quality metrics and progress toward quality system goals, providing input and recommendations for quality system improvement projects, and leading problem-solving activities when quality goals aren’t met. 

This position is part of the Quality Systems Department located in Ames, Iowa and will be onsite. 

In this role, a typical day will look like: 

Participate in continuous improvement in customer complaint drivers in the form of Gage R&R studies, design of experiments, Six Sigma, or other general statistical analysis techniques. 

Participate in product and process changes by supporting statistical testing and validation of materials, supporting machine validation activities, and maintaining Agile changes as the change analyst. 

Assist in new product development activities and sourcing new components for existing products. 

Assist in updating/maintaining the quality system through monitoring of quality metrics and sustainment of improvement projects, including but not limited to Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPAs), Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR), document control, training, internal audits, and problem-solving activities. 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

Bachelors (or higher) degree preferred with a technical background in the sciences or in engineering. Six Sigma training preferred. 

3-years minimum experience in an engineering role required. 

Quality Management Systems (QMS) experience in ISO9001 or FDA 21CFR820 with knowledge of quality principles and technical tools. 

Ability to read and comprehend drawings and other technical information required to perform the assigned task work and develop Standard Operating Procedure. Strong attention to details and processes as well as accurate documentation practices and recordkeeping preferred.

The salary range for this role is $68,000 – $84,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.

An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $68,000.00 - $84,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
