Quality Engineer - Heat Exchangers

At Danfoss, we’re looking for a proactive and driven Quality Engineer to champion continuous improvement, drive root cause problem-solving, and help shape our quality systems and culture. This role blends technical expertise with leadership and offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact across the organization

 

This is an onsite position at our facility in Louisville, KY where we make engineered to order heat exchangers.

What You’ll Be Doing

Drive Root Cause Problem Solving
•    Lead failure analysis and corrective actions for RMAs using 8D methodology.
•    Support production teams in identifying and resolving quality issues at the source.
Strengthening Quality Systems & Standards
•    Maintain and improve documentation aligned with ISO 9001 and ASME standards.
•    Oversee internal audits, procedure updates, and ensure compliance with certifications.
•    Monitor data collection at critical operations and ensure meaningful use of insights.
Lead Process & Performance Improvements
•    Conduct PFMEA, process capability studies, and implement preventive actions.
•    Develop and execute a 12-month Kaizen roadmap to meet productivity and quality targets.
•    Apply Lean tools to define current and future states and guide teams toward improvement.
Empower Teams Through Training & Coaching
•    Educate plant personnel on quality procedures and tools.
•    Coach cross-functional teams in using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
•    Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Manage Documentation & Reporting
•    Ensure quality documentation is accurate, accessible, and up-to-date.
•    Prepare internal and external reports using statistical analysis and performance metrics.
Collaborate Across Functions & Suppliers
•    Participate in supplier evaluations and ensure quality expectations are met.
•    Work closely with operations, engineering, and sourcing teams to align on quality goals.

What We're Looking For

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
•    Experience in manufacturing environments preferred
•    Strong knowledge of FMEA, 8D, RCPS, SOP, and blueprint reading
•    Familiarity with ERP systems (Axapta or SAP)
•    Computer literacy and strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful changes
