About the Role: 

The Quality Engineer is pivotal in supporting the delivery of our Domain Strategy by driving the continuous improvement of Quality engineering within their squad. They use their advanced technical skills and a deep understanding of quality engineering principles to create robust, scalable, and efficient applications.
 

The Quality Engineer improves the development experience for their squad(s) by enhancing development tools, test coverage, security and/or code structure. The role involves implementing industry best practices across a range of testing activities (progress, regression, integration) and ensuring quality is considered at all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle. 
 

They actively mentor, coach, and uplift quality engineering capability within the squad, recognising when a new approach is necessary and collaborating effectively with others to find solutions. 
 

Working within the Agent Experience division and embedded within the Skylight Crew, you will have a pivotal role in driving products that will redefine industry standards and enhance the experiences of real estate professionals across Australia.

In a typical day you can expect to:   

Technical Excellence and Continuous Improvement

Develop scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions by applying best quality engineering practices.Drive continuous improvement through contributions to test infrastructure, system health, tech debt, and automation.Build and maintain robust test suites, tools, and documentation to support efficient and effective testing. Collaborate with Engineers and Tech Leads on improving process and system change.

Leadership and Collaboration

Actively mentor, coach, and uplift quality engineering capability within the squad and across the organisation.Contribute a quality perspective to design discussions, planning, and roadmap estimations.Foster a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.

Operational Quality & Product Alignment

Execute and analyse testing activities, resolve issues collaboratively, and ensure solutions align with business and customer needs.Continuously identify opportunities to enhance quality processes and reduce incidents.Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment between product goals and quality standards

Our Ideal Person: 

Experience

Experience testing software solutions for scale Experience with either highly trafficked customer-facing websitesExperience working with Tech leads to optimise engineering practices and processes Experience working with one of the common Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP Experience with automated testing toolingExperience working in Agile environments Experience working in cross functional teams (Product, Design and Tech) 

Technical Skills

Understands shift-left testing and how to implement it in practice Testing backend REST APIs across a variety of considerations, e.g. integration testing, contract testing, load / performance testing.Experience writing and maintaining a suite of quality manual and/or automated tests covering web and/or mobile platformsFamiliar with Cloud Design patterns Familiar with TDD, BDD and Domain Driven design Familiar with synchronous (API) and async (Messaging) integration patterns Familiar with modern Application Security Practices (OWASP) 

Education and Certifications

Applied Quality Assistance to engineering teams at previous companies[BONUS] AWS (or other Cloud Platform) Certification Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering related field 

Crew/Squad specific experiences:

Experience with Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end testing is desirableExperience with K6 for performance / load testing is desirableExperience automating integration / E2E tests for native mobile applications desirable
