Quality Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing Team (AMT)
PacSci EMC is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Quality Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing team. This team is tasked with designing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions, optimizing processes, and driving operational excellence. The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and process reliability across our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in quality assurance, Lean Six Sigma practices, and regulatory compliance within the defense or aerospace manufacturing industry. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), support new product introductions (NPI), and implement robust quality systems to meet customer and industry requirements. **Key Responsibilities** + **Quality Assurance & Process Control:** + Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans, inspection processes, and testing protocols to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards. + Define key quality metrics (KPIs) and monitor performance to drive continuous improvement in product quality. + Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that process control systems are integrated into production workflows. + **Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions:** + Investigate nonconformances, defects, and quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis. + Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address root causes and prevent recurrence. + **Compliance & Standards:** + Ensure that all manufacturing processes, products, and documentation adhere to ISO 9001, AS9100, and other relevant quality management system (QMS) standards. + Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies, customers, and internal stakeholders. + **Continuous Improvement Initiatives:** + Lead or participate in Lean Six Sigma projects to improve process capability, reduce variability, and enhance overall product quality. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams during Kaizen and 3P (Production Preparation Process) events to identify and implement quality improvements. + **New Product Introduction (NPI):** + Work closely with design, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure quality considerations are incorporated into new product designs and processes. + Develop and execute First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) plans for new product introductions. + **Supplier Quality Management:** + Collaborate with the supply chain team to evaluate and qualify suppliers, ensuring that purchased components meet quality requirements. + Conduct supplier audits and drive supplier corrective actions as needed. + **Documentation & Reporting:** + Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). + Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. **Qualifications** **Education & Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. + 3-7 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in the defense, aerospace, or high-tech manufacturing industries. + Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent quality management system standards is required. **Technical Skills** + Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing simulation tools. + Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, and value stream mapping. + Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodologies; Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus. + Hands-on experience with automation technologies, robotics, PLC programming, and vision systems. + Proficient in ERP systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. \#LI-JW2 **Ralliant Corporation Overview** Ralliant, originally part of Fortive, now stands as a bold, independent public company driving innovation at the forefront of precision technology.
