Job DescriptionThis position is of high visibility and key to the succession plans of the business. The Quality Engineer, working within the company Business Management System, supports Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering and the Quality Group (QA Lab and Document Control) in their efforts to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations and ensures that quality levels are maintained, while minimizing costs and improving productivity.
Your responsibilities will include:
Activities may include, but are not limited to:
Lead customer quality-related inquiries from receipt to closure, primarily from Automotive customersCoordinate quality matters related to customer quality such as product complaint, customer claim (with Finance), 8D report evaluation and submission, follow-up to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions and preventive actionsProvide internal production quality support related to issue resolution, product quality/risk assessment and product dispositionProvide plant quality support and representation in new product development, specification reviews and approvals, scale up, design transfer, and facility validation activities, and the establishment and maintenance of quality control standardsWorking multi-functionally, maintain Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, and Control PlansProvide assistance in the QA lab to perform product measuring and testing if requiredAbility to work across functional boundaries and collaborate with these business fields in a significant manner - laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing functions as needed to carry out assignmentsProvide production support of a quality/statistical data analysis natureProvide monthly quality indices and leads monthly Quality meetingProvide training in areas of responsibility or expertise, as the need arisesGenerate and provide quality metrics for management reviewConducts quality audits for products, processes, and if required suppliersLeads problem solving and continuous improvement projectsDevelop systemic improvements to the plant quality systemProvide feedback into the development and maintenance of the Site Business(Quality) Management System (BMS)Other duties as deemed necessaryQualificationsMust be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorshipMinimum 3 years Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing settingInterest in advancement to Quality ManagementKnowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF16949Lean Six Sigma Training experience is a plusGood statistical background and Minitab knowledgeExperience balancing multiple responsibilities with minimal directionStrong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.Able to effectively work with various functions and levels within the organizationEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing technology, engineering or technical related field preferredASQ certification in quality engineering, quality management, or auditing is a plusAdditional InformationThe salary range for this position will be $70k-90k / year.
