Volt is immediately hiring for a Quality Engineer (Aerospace) in Camarillo, CA.
As a Quality Engineer, you will:
Quality System Interpretation & Compliance:
Interpret customer and internal quality requirements, ensuring existing systems are compliant.
Participate in Design Reviews, reviewing primary documents against customer requirements, and defining quality, inspection, and special gauge or tool requirements.
Participate as a member of the Change Review Board to assure acceptability of changes to primary documents.
Review manufacturing planning for incorporation of inspection and test points and determine special gauging requirements.
Assure the flow-down of special requirements throughout the process.
Inspection & Gauging Development:
Develop comprehensive inspection planning for receiving, in-process, assembly, final, and test inspection.
Design or modify acceptance gauging and approve new gauge designs or modifications.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
Conduct thorough hardware non-conformance investigations and ensure effective follow-up.
Participate on Continuous Process Improvement Teams to drive efficiency and quality enhancements.
Perform trend analysis on product issues and corrective actions to identify systemic improvements.
Fluent with quality concepts and systems, especially root cause/corrective action methodologies such as 8D and 5 Why processes.
Audit & Supplier Management:
Conduct internal audits of the Quality system.
Participate and/or facilitate customer and AS9100 registration audits.
Review supplier purchase orders, ratings, and corrective actions.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Support:
Develop quality plans and collaborate with the Business Unit Manager during the proposal phase to address quality requirements.
Act as the Quality Department Representative on the Material Review Board (MRB).
Assume responsibility for customer Quality issues on assigned product team(s).
Support departmental and Company training objectives, contributing to the development of other Quality Engineers.
Write technical procedures and Acceptance Test Plans.
Coordinate and perform First Article Inspections per AS9102.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field is required.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of Aerospace industry experience in mechanical, electrical, or quality engineering fields is required.
Auditing: Training as an Internal or Lead Auditor is preferred.
Leadership: Prior experience in a leadership role is also preferred.
Communication: Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Technical Acumen: Exposure to mechanical and/or electrical inspection techniques and a thorough understanding of AS9100 Quality systems and problem-solving methodologies.
Data Analysis: Strong technical writing skills and a robust ability to use products such as MS Excel to perform data analysis and reporting.
Leadership: Strong team-building and leadership skills.
Salary: $85,000 - $100,000/year.
