Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

We're seeking a dynamic Quality Engineer II to lead strategic initiatives that elevate supplier quality across our cable plants worldwide. From supplier selection to performance improvement, you'll be the driving force behind material specification excellence, process optimization, and cost-effective innovation.

 

🛠️ What You’ll Do

Champion the globalization of material specifications for cable operations, replicating and standardizing best-in-class practices.

Lead strategic improvement projects to resolve quality issues and enhance product performance.

Evaluate the impact of product, process, and equipment changes on quality architecture.

Collaborate cross-functionally to onboard new suppliers and products, supporting cost reduction and capacity expansion.

Drive early identification of vulnerabilities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Partner with Product Engineering to qualify new materials and processes.

Author and lead global material improvement qualification plans.

Introduce alternative material technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Leverage global resources across Technology, Quality, and Engineering teams.

 

🎯 Key Responsibilities Monitor and Maintain supplier COA, PPAP, Supplier quality performance, audits, and relevant quality systems.

Standardize and implement global material specifications.

Update Product Quality Architecture as needed.

Facilitate process capability studies and product architecture understanding.

Analyze COA trends and shifts.

Support regional improvement initiatives and project execution.

Maintain supplier quality documentation and systems.

 

🎓 Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Ceramic, or Materials Engineering.

Strong data analysis skills; familiarity with statistics and control charts.

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and lead cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and decision-making skills.

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Experience in project management and structured problem-solving (e.g., KT).

Knowledge of quality systems, audits, and certifications (TL, ISO).

 

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

Experience with statistical software (SAS, Minitab or JMP).

Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt) or DMAIC project experience.

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
