Job Description
The Quality Engineer will support the GM launch by ensuring the implementation of engineering changes, supplier changes, and process improvements in current production. This role focuses on risk assessment, validation, and compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements, while minimizing production disruptions.
ResponsibilitiesLead quality aspects of engineering and supplier changes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to assess and validate changes before implementation.Ensure all quality documentation such as Control Plans, FMEA, and Work Instructions is updated accordingly.Support process validation activities, including capability studies, PPAP, and Run at Rate.Review and approve supplier PPAP submissions in alignment with customer and company standards.Ensure compliance with IATF, AIAG Core Tools, and internal Quality Management System.Essential SkillsProficiency in root cause analysis, quality assurance, and supplier development.Experience with PPAPs, program launch, automotive manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement.Knowledge of lean manufacturing, project management, poke yoke, and supplier quality.Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and corrective action plans.Six Sigma certification and auditing experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.3-5 years of experience in quality engineering.Strong knowledge of core tools such as PPAP, APQP, MSA, and SPC.Ability to read part drawings.Work experience in the automotive industry, particularly with electro/mechanical devices.Knowledge of EV components such as motors and inverters.Experience dealing with automotive customers.Bilingual proficiency in Japanese language/translation.Knowledge of Quality Systems including Q1, IATF16949, NPI, FMEA, and Control Plans.Experience with SAP development, Control Plans, FMEAs, and Process Operations Standards.Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.Leadership skills to manage projects and obtain support from multiple departments.Analytical skills to understand product and process change points impact.Problem-solving skills using tools such as 5P, 5-why, DOE, and FTA.Work Environment
This position is located on the Electric Motor side of the plant, which is part of a clean room environment. The job involves working approximately 45 hours a week with the possibility of additional hours as required by the job or project. The role includes working closely with new lines primarily for GM. Up to 15% domestic and international travel to suppliers and customers may be required. The shift is from 7:45 AM to 5 PM. The plant is very large, covering 800,000 square feet, and the role may require walking 10,000+ steps a day.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $42.31/hr.
