Quality Engineer
Job Description

 

Now is a great time to join our Danfoss Power Solutions Team in Ames! We are seeking to hire an experience Quality Engineer to help drive improvements in kitting and distribution. The Quality Engineer provides technical support to various programs intended to assure the quality of the assembly processes to our customers and to resolve all customer quality concerns.

Job Responsibilities

 

Manages and processes customer production line reject claims to drive improvements in kitting and distribution to achieve customer satisfaction. Provides liaison with other areas such as engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, marketing, customer representatives and third-party logistics in the resolution of quality concerns. Prepare and implement quality assurance control plans associated with manufacturing requirements before, during and after PPAP. Assures that specific controls are established and properly integrated with the applicable development and production phases of the project. (e.g. new product, new assembly process, new kitting process) to achieve customer satisfaction. Lead the containment efforts when an external or internal quality risk is identified.

Line Support:

Based on issues discovered, this position may require documenting quality issues in various quality systems (e.g. SIR, Change Management and CAR in SAP) to prevent future issues. Uses Six Sigma methodology to reduce process variations. Performs a wide variety of duties to ensure quality and reliability of parts kitted and shipped from distribution: conduct MSA Studies, capability analysis, correlation analysis, design of experiments, process control, developing control plans, reading engineering drawings, interpreting GD&T and utilizing statistical techniques to provide insight, prove out process and or correct quality problems.

Problem Solving / Facilitation

Leads 8D with cross-functional teams. Works with quality technicians, process engineers, and other staff to implement quality enhancements to products and processes.

Continuous Improvement

Analyzes customer complaints, returned product, and rejects in the kitting and distribution to determine and implement solutions to prevent recurrence. Lead/Participate Quality Audits and help improve the process.

Change Management Approver

Review specifications and/or engineering drawings in order to establish design and quality goals. Background & Skills

 

Required Qualifications

B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer or related experience in a production manufacturing environment (including PPAP processes and quality tools)

 

Preferred qualifications

Certification in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Hydraulic product knowledge Prior experience with Danfoss kitting & distribution activities Knowledgeable of PPAP processes and quality tools (e.g. SPC, FMEA, Control plans, DOE, QFD, Gage R&R, Kaizen, Poke-Yoke techniques & change management)
