We are seeking a dedicated Quality Coordinator to lead our site’s quality assurance and control efforts in a unionized manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring product compliance, maintaining ISO 9001 standards, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities Oversee daily quality control operations including raw material verification, in-process inspections, and final product testing. Ensure timely and accurate issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all outgoing products. Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor product and process stability; identify trends and implement improvements. Manage Corrective and Preventive Action Requests (CCARs), ensuring root causes are addressed and corrective actions are executed. Lead internal ISO 9001 audits and maintain certification compliance; prepare for external and customer audits. Foster effective communication and collaboration with union-represented employees, respecting the collective bargaining agreement. Partner with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, R&D) to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures. Train and guide QC technicians and support staff to ensure consistent application of quality standards. Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and returns; support resolution and documentation. Generate and present quality performance reports to plant leadership.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience). Minimum 5 years of quality experience in refractory, ceramics, or heavy manufacturing; 2+ years in a leadership role. Experience in a unionized production environment strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS, audit processes, and documentation practices. Proficiency in SPC, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and continuous improvement tools. Excellent communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills. Competency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or LIMS systems is a plus.Interested?
