Use prescribed standards to determine chemical and/or physical characteristics for quality control purposes and to determine conformity to specifications.  Set up, adjustment and operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentations such as agitators, scales, ovens and other lab equipment required.  Work around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain materials samples from production facilities such as conveyors, stockpiles, rail cars and/or customer sites.  Record test results in AggQC and/or standardized forms.  Report and communicate test results internally and externally (DOT and other customers as required).  Clean, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.   Inspect stockpiles for proper construction. Inspect haul units for cleanliness. Maintain test data files. Assist in investigating and resolving customer technical problems.  Become GDOT certified within a reasonable time.   Participate as a team member.   Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesHigh School diploma, GED or equivalent experience required; technical degree preferredState certified for aggregate field and laboratory testing in GA preferred; ability to obtain state certification requiredMinimum of 2 years' experience in quality control in an aggregate or construction environmentExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsProficient in MS Office and computer skillsMust have basic math skillsProactive in safety and works well in a team environmentMinimal travel requiredMust be able to work 12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededMust be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to read and interpret gaugesPossess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reportsMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipmentMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerMust be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment Physical RequirementsMust be able to climb on and off equipmentMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbsMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditionsMust be able to work at various heights  WORKING CONDITIONSLarger equipment is typically air conditioned.  There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty.  Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
