Quality Control Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee construction projects and ensure they meet strict quality standards and specifications. Based in Norfolk, Virginia, this role involves monitoring all phases of construction, implementing quality control procedures, and collaborating closely with senior project managers to uphold company standards. The ideal candidate will excel at balancing quality assurance with productivity and scheduling demands. Responsibilities: • Develop and implement the Quality Control Plan for projects, adhering to Army Corps Three Phases of Control guidelines. • Collaborate with the Site Safety and Health Officer to support the project's safety program as outlined in EM 385 1.1. • Ensure all submittals comply with contractual requirements and specifications. • Provide guidance to subcontractors in preparing Activity Hazard Analysis for their defined work tasks. • Conduct thorough reviews of construction plans and specifications to confirm compliance at every phase. • Document evaluations, assessments, and quality control assistance for both staff and subcontractors. • Verify catalog cuts, material submittals, and testing results to ensure alignment with project requirements. • Coordinate water, soil, material, and mechanical system testing with approved personnel and facilities. • Facilitate pre-final inspections, compile punch lists, and ensure resolution of deficiencies. • Manage project closeout processes, including document submission and final inspections, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quality Control Manager, particularly in commercial and federal government construction contracts ranging from $1M to $10M. • Certification in Construction Quality Control and a BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. • Proficiency in construction regulations, plans, schedules, and documentation. • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. • OSHA 30-Hour certification and familiarity with government reporting requirements. • Expertise in conducting inspections, managing punch lists, and overseeing project closeouts. • Knowledge of federal government contracts and compliance standards. • Proven ability to resolve problems and implement preventive and corrective measures effectively.
