The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will work in a satellite lab above the manufacturing floor, conducting quality checks and testing on raw materials, in-process, and finished goods. This position involves a balanced mix of lab work and quality assurance tasks, with 60% of the time spent on the plant floor and 40% in the laboratory. Candidates should be comfortable working in a manufacturing setting and being on their feet.
Responsibilities
+ Pull samples multiple times a day from the plant floor to bring them back to the lab for testing.
+ Gather quality assurance and regulatory documentation from the floor.
+ Interact with plant personnel to ensure compliance with procedures such as GMP and PPE usage.
+ Communicate with production personnel to address and resolve issues or potential issues.
+ Conduct formulation checks including salt, acid, and pH levels.
+ Perform titrations and mass-volume measurements.
+ Conduct sensory testing twice per shift.
+ Calibrate laboratory instruments and perform basic microbiological testing.
+ Use SAP system and Microsoft applications to enter data.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in sciences preferred.
+ Experience in food manufacturing or a fast-paced environment is highly preferred.
+ Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with plating micro and analytical chemistry testing is preferred.
+ Effective communication skills to interact with production personnel.
+ Ability to resolve conflicts with a solution-first approach.
+ Capability to make fast decisions and think on their feet.
+ Proactive work ethic and ability to manage additional projects.
Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced, involving both laboratory and plant operations with quality assurance responsibilities. Candidates should be prepared for flexibility in shift work, starting on the second shift (2 PM to 10:30 PM) with potential transition to the third shift (10 PM to 6:30 AM) based on business needs. The manufacturing plant has a strong odor due to mayonnaise production, but the lab environment is odor-free. Dress code includes long pants, steel-toed safety shoes, hair/beard nets, smock, and no jewelry or painted fingernails. The work culture is vibrant with monthly engagement activities such as food trucks and birthday celebrations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
