Responsible for shipboard quality oversight, inspections, and testing to ensure compliance with safety, workmanship, and customer requirements for government and commercial projects.
Responsibilities:
Provide full-time shipboard quality oversight and support production quality requirements
Monitor compliance with Quality and Safety Management Systems, workmanship standards, and customer specifications
Follow safety, quality control, and inspection procedures for test and inspection plans, production Work-Packages, and QA Work Books
Conduct in-process self-assessment safety/quality inspections, audits, and surveillances
Perform audits and surveillances of suppliers/subcontractors for in-process work
Coordinate inspection and acceptance activities with customer QA/Safety representatives
Review QA/Safety control requirements with customers to assure compliance
Support onsite Project Managers and Supervisors by ensuring documentation is completed
Assist production as required, including fire watch, tank watch, cleaning, and material control
Perform other duties as assigned by QA Supervisor or Project Manager
Requirements:
GED or high school diploma with specialized training and certifications in Quality Assurance
3 years total waterfront experience, including 2 years in quality inspection/testing
Knowledge of OSHA regulations for shipyard employment, NAVSEA Standard Items, JFMM, NAVSHIPS Technical Manuals, DOD Standards, Military Specifications, and performance standards
Experience conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in related field with 1 year waterfront quality inspection/testing experience
Completed maritime trade school/apprenticeship with 2 years waterfront QA experience, or 4 years military service with specialized QA training and certifications
Certifications such as Quality Assurance Inspector, NACE/NBPI, OSHA 3095, OSHA 5410, OSHA 521, OSHA 3115
Pay Details: $26.00 to $34.00 per hour
